Whatever is true, honorable, just, and pure
As I walked my dogs this morning, the brightest cardinal happily flew before us. Would I have noticed it if my mind was consumed with worry or dread? It can be nearly impossible to focus on the good in life. But letting inconveniences take over can drag you down!
Proverbs 17:22 says, "A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones."
Isn't this the truth?!
Driving in the car is my talk-to-God time and when praying about my recent lack of mental and physical energy, my GPS tells me to exit on "New Hope Drive", I love God's timing and sense of humor! It made me realize how I am in desperate need of controlling my emotions by harnessing a better mindset!
Work on a Monday: I am blessed to have a way to exercise my mind, sharpen my professional skills, shine a spiritual light into the corporate world, and make a living!
Rents and mortgages are getting expensive. However, I have a lovely, comfy home to relax in with my husband and make our own! (And the cost of living is inevitable and out of my control!)
I'm frustrated because I can't be pulled in everyone's direction. However, God has placed amazing people into my life who continue to pour out love and appreciation, and they want to spend their free time with me!
My car needs a new tire. But at least I have a method of transportation to begin with!
The nonstop cleaning: dishes, laundry, and dog hair! But I have three of the most amazing animals who fill our home with so much love and laughter! My husband continues to try his best to meet my standards of cleanliness! And we've always had food to eat on these dishes and clothes to put on our backs from these overflowing mountains of laundry.
For every complaint, there is too much good being overlooked.
A specific verse that helps me calm down an overworked mind is Philippians 4:8.
"Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable - if there is any excellence and anything praiseworthy - dwell on these things."
What are you dwelling on?
